Diffuse alveolar hemorrhage
Infection (including atypical infx like TB or PCP)
Edema
Cancer (bronchoalveolar carcinoma or primary pulmonary lymphoma)
Interstitial lung disease
– occupational or environmental exposures (hypersensitivity)
– drug-induced lung injury
– connective-tissue disease associated pneumonitis
– tuberous sclerosis
– sarcoidosis
– Churg-Strauss syndrome
– chronic eosinophilic pneumonia
Idiopathic interstitial pneumonias
– “crazy paving” appearance (interstitial thickening and
irregular alveolar filling):  pulmonary alveolar proteinosis,
alveolar sarcoidosis, lipoid pneumonia and mucinous
bronchoalveolar carcinoma)
