Herpes in Pregnancy

Oral herpes does not count – has to be either primary or non-primary genital herpes or recurrent genital herpes.
For all women who present with a genital HSV lesion anytime during pregnancy, whether with a primary, nonprimary first episode, or recurrent infection, we recommend initiating suppressive therapy at 36 weeks of gestation to continue through delivery. We use acyclovir 400 mg three times daily as suppressive therapy.  (from UTD)
